The painting features a bobcat, native to North America and one of my favorite local wild species, a Western bluebird, and native California wildflowers and butterflies.

"I revisited an old friend… call her my spirit animal, guide, or simply companion and friend. 

She can be gentle and warm, supportive and comforting, or sometimes judging. We don’t always agree. She might be absent for months, sometimes years. Now she visits me often.

Recently, her teeth grew sharper than usual, and she is short of patience. She snaps, snarls, or you will hear her deep growl. She is not to be feared, but she has grown protective. 

These are weird, uncertain times we find ourselves in, and her patience is tested. I hope 'tis just a phase, and she will find her usual, calm and gentle self again. 

I’m glad she is there, nevertheless.”
